FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about UmmahArmy

GENERAL

What is UmmahArmy?
UmmahArmy is a gig economy platform that connects skilled Muslim professionals ("Soldiers") with Islamic organizations and businesses ("Commanders"). We facilitate paid work, volunteer missions, and social media campaigns, all within a values-aligned community.
Who can join UmmahArmy?
Anyone with a UmmahPass account can join. Soldiers are individual workers who want to earn by completing missions. Commanders are representatives of Islamic organizations, mosques, businesses, or nonprofits who want to post missions.
What is UmmahPass?
UmmahPass is a unified identity system for the Muslim community. It provides secure authentication across all Ummah Media Group platforms, including UmmahArmy. Create one account and use it everywhere.

FOR SOLDIERS

How do I get paid?

For paid missions, funds are held in escrow when the Commander posts the mission. Once your work is approved, 80% of the payment is transferred to your connected Stripe account. The 20% platform fee helps us maintain and improve the platform.

For volunteer missions, you earn UmmahPoints that can be redeemed across the UMG ecosystem.

What are UmmahPoints?
UmmahPoints are our rewards currency. You earn them by completing volunteer missions and Social Boost campaigns. Points can be redeemed for products, services, or donations across the UMG ecosystem. They also contribute to your rank progression.
How does the rank system work?

Everyone starts as a Private. Complete missions and earn points to rank up:

  • Private: 0 points, 0 missions
  • Corporal: 100 points, 5 missions
  • Sergeant: 500 points, 20 missions
  • Lieutenant: 1,500 points, 50 missions
  • Captain: 4,000 points, 100 missions
  • Major: 10,000 points, 250 missions
  • Colonel: 25,000 points, 500 missions
  • General: 50,000 points, 1,000 missions

Higher ranks unlock access to more difficult (and better-paying) missions.

What happens if my work is rejected?

If your work is rejected, you receive 1 strike. The strike system works as follows:

  • 3 strikes = 30-day suspension
  • 5 strikes = permanent ban

Note: A 1-star rating adds 1 strike, while a 2-star rating adds 0.5 strikes. Always deliver quality work!

What is Social Boost?
Social Boost missions are coordinated social media campaigns. When a Commander launches a boost, Rapid Response soldiers receive a notification to engage with a specific post (like, comment, share) within a 30-minute window. It's a quick way to earn UmmahPoints while supporting Islamic content.

FOR COMMANDERS

How do I post a mission?
After registering as a Commander, go to your dashboard and click "Create Mission." Fill in the details including title, description, skills needed, number of soldiers, deadline, and compensation type (paid, volunteer, or social boost). For paid missions, you'll need to fund the escrow before the mission goes live.
What are the platform fees?

For paid missions, UmmahArmy charges a 20% platform fee. This means:

  • You pay the full mission amount
  • 80% goes to the Soldier
  • 20% supports platform operations

Volunteer missions are free to post. Verified nonprofits receive 500 UmmahPoints per month to reward volunteers.

How long do I have to review submissions?
You have 14 days to review each submission. After 14 days, submissions are automatically approved with a 5-star rating and funds are released to the Soldier. This protects Soldiers from Commanders who don't respond.
Can I cancel a mission?
Yes, you can cancel a mission if no work has been submitted yet. For paid missions, escrowed funds will be refunded. You cannot cancel a mission once Soldiers have already submitted work.

PAYMENTS & SECURITY

Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe, an industry-leading payment provider. We never store your credit card information on our servers. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the highest level of security certification.
What happens if there's a dispute?
If there's a disagreement between a Soldier and Commander, either party can file a dispute. Our admin team will review the evidence from both sides and make a fair decision. Possible outcomes include: ruling in favor of the Soldier, ruling in favor of the Commander, splitting the payment, or dismissing the dispute.
